skinTones

skinTones skinTones uses digital photographs of peoples' skin displayed on an LCD monitor to control multiple audio oscillators. The frequecies of these oscillators are directly affected by the "tone" of the skin colors through photoresistors mounted on the front of the monitor. The grid of nine, constantly changing images of skin can be viewed on an adjacent monitor.
The system consists of software written in Processing and handbuilt hardware called the Axion Oscillator.

skinTones was featured as part of Newtown Arts Skin! show at the Pasadena Armory Northwest, from October 12 through December 23, 2007.
