DIGIT glove is a handbuilt alternative MIDI interface. It consists of a glove with lines of conductive fabric adhered to its surface. There are six conductive pads per glove, one on each finger and thumb and one on the side of the first finger. When any of the other pads are touched by the thumb, a MIDI noteon message is sent. The electronics work in such a way as to allow 14 MIDI notes per hand. The sensing and MIDI is accomplished by a Basic Stamp IIsx microcontroller (for more info see parallax.com)
The DIGIT glove was used as a control for my piece pulsonance.
The control box for the DIGIT glove can also be used seperately to create new switching interfaces.Code for Basic Stamp MIDI projects is available all over the internet. I will eventually post the code that I developed.
